Stuff about Me(me)

It's Friday night, and I've got no plans. Husband is playing World of Warcraft, the kids are in bed, and strangely, I have no inclination to do the dishes. Go figure. So here I am, taking part in a little meme action instead, all in preparation for posting on Saturday morning. Some might call it super- organized to write a post the night before. Others might call it lame and un-spontaneous. I call it lucky that my brain cells are still functioning at the end of the day. I'm just sayin'...

You’re feeling: so tired, but since it’s only 8pm, it’s hard to justify going to bed yet. Hence my procrastination with this meme. (Thanks, Mommy the Robot!)

To your left: my briefcase, Son’s DVD player, and the Fisher Price digital camera with which he takes the most hilarious portraits of me. Either that, or I really am 87 feet tall. You decide.

On your mind: When will the press decide whether to send my book to a second reader or not? (Oh, please, oh, please, oh, please, YES. Please let them say YES.) Most people wouldn't find this that exciting, as it's an academic book, not fiction or memoir or something anyone besides another professor would want to read, but it's my first book, so I'm a little anxious.

Last meal included: Pot roast, wild rice, and steamed broccoli.

You sometimes find it hard to: have patience with Son’s dawdling. If it were an Olympic sport, he would win a gold medal. If I knew he were in training for the Olympics, perhaps I’d be less impatient.

The weather: overcast and low 40s. But it’s supposed to be near 59 and sunny tomorrow…if so, ZOO here we come! (In case you don’t live in Michigan: for many people, 60 = shorts weather around here.)

Something you have a collection of: does an entire wall of built in-bookshelves filled with books count as a collection or just as my job?

A smell that cheers you up: fresh lemons.

A smell that can ruin your mood: inside the wet vac when someone forgot to clean out the container after scrubbing the floor last week.

How long since you last shaved: I Epilady. It hurts. But once a week is so much easier.

The current state of your hair: scraggly ponytail (due for a cut)

The largest item on your desk/workspace (not computer): stack of books I need to read.

Your skill with chopsticks: Husband’s (Japanese) parents, on first meeting me, took us out to dinner at a Japanese restaurant. Halfway through dinner, my now-father-in-law poked his wife with his elbow and stage-whispered, “Look, she’s using chopsticks.” So I must be okay with them.

Which section you head for first in a bookstore: “literature” (fiction) if I need something, magazine if I want something to browse.

Something you’re craving: well, the Girl Scout Cookies arrived tonight, so I have to say I’m pretty satiated at the moment.

Your general thoughts on the presidential race: not a Republican.

How many times have you been hospitalized this year: none (knock wood)

Favorite place to go for a quiet moment: the ocean. We live in Michigan. That tells you how often I get a quiet moment.

You’ve always secretly thought you’d be a good: actress.

Something that freaks you out a little: driving home by myself from work late at night on deserted roads through farmland.

Something you’ve eaten too much of lately: Easter candy.

You have never: run a marathon.

You never want to: run a marathon.

*****

This one had some fun things to think about. If you want to do it, please tag yourself. I’m tagging Kim at Jogging in Circles, who kindly requested a different meme when I tagged her with one she’d done just days before. D’Oh.

And in case you're wondering, I finished this, spent about 15 minutes reading blogs, and fell asleep on the couch at 9pm. I feel fabulous this morning! Bring on the waffles!

I love this meme! Some really neat things to think about...btw, are you sharing any of those Girl Scout cookies?? We didn't get any this year, and having just pancakes for breakfast is clearly not enough... :-)

This is a cute meme - reminds me of one of the email ones I got recently.

If I had started my blog back when DH was playing WoW, then I would probably be a lot further along! Oh, and I wouldn't still have the urge to go and play my rogue every time I hear WoW!

If you all don't shut it with the Girl Scout Cookie talk, someone's gonna get hurt.

Also, I like lemons too. :)

That is a great meme!
Fingers crossed for your book--I used to always want to write a book but then I kept getting pregnant ;)

How did you have time to write a book? I have a hard enough time just reading one. Cheers to your time management skills, and fingers crossed for you!
