Wednesday Roundup

Real content for today available on my shiny new guest post over at Halushki. What? You don't read Jozet? You really should. She's hilarious and very very smart too. This week, she's on vacation (don't break into her house; husband is still home), and full of fun guest bloggers. Show some love...

Speaking of showing the love: I want to give a huge shout out to all the new commenters who have been showing up in the last week or so. I LOVE YOU ALL! Normally, I try really hard to respond to you all in my comments and visit your blogs the first time you show up -- but this last week I've been grading papers like there was no tomorrow. Yesterday I graded 80. And I finally turned in grades for my two summer courses. AND I busted 7 plagiarizing students and nearly poked out my own eyeballs in frustration over all the rampant cheating. And today I'm back and so excited to go check out your blogs too. So happy.

As for last night... I promised Huckdoll I'd turn off the computer at 9pm and get all up close and personal with Husband. You know, actually say real words to each other instead of Google chatting from our computers. Sadly, my grades were due at 11pm, and it took me until 10:55 to finish my marathon of grading and get it all done (in my defense, I did have 70 students, and I had been working diligently since 9am and -- as noted above -- deplorably ignoring my own commenters for the last few days to try to get done). The good news? Husband and I had a short but very excellent conversation *ahem* last night. AND made promises to do this whole get-off-the-computer thing much more often. So, Huck, I hope I'm not a total failure in your book.

Okay, that's it. Go on over to Halushki for a little read about Son's inability to tell lies from good manners. Fun times!

My husband and I just had a talk about my excessive computer use. So...I need to figure out a way to hide it from him. HA HA! Just kidding! HA HA! (Pretty much).

I think if we have a short, but very excellent, conversation *ahem* tonight, he might not mind so much.

Well, glad you got it all done and were able to have a nice "conversation."

Not a failure at ALL!! You did great because you understood what it was all about and I trust that you'll disconnect when work isn't calling to be done. Actually, I know for a fact that you're not the only one who worked during power down :)

I was a teacher in a prior career, I remember cramming to get papers (for me tests - Math) graded. One of the least things I enjoyed. I could not believe how many students you had plagiarizing. It seems like an issue that could be of concern with the availability of the Internet. Unlike when many of us went through school.

Cheers,

My husband and I Google chat every day. That form of communication is second only to our constant cell phone texting. How sad are we? Anyway...I'm glad you were able to have a nice, long, heated discussion with your man. ;-)
